ADRM Security Design Manager Matt O'Brien will speak at the Data Center Investment Conference & Expo (DICE): South in Arlington, Texas on August 13, 2026.

The panel - From Blueprint to Build: Best Practices for Physical Security Throughout Development - looks at how physical security fits into the full arc of a development project, from early planning and design coordination, through construction, and into commissioning and turnover.

Why early involvement matters for data center development

Security in a mission-critical facility is not a single system. It is a set of interdependent decisions - site layout, perimeter design, vehicle approach, door hardware, conduit pathways, camera placement, control room adjacencies - that touch nearly every other discipline on the project.

Each of those decisions has a natural moment when it is inexpensive to make, and a later moment when it becomes expensive to change. Coordinating early does not simply produce a more secure building. It produces a more predictable project: fewer surprises during construction, fewer conflicts between trades, and a smoother path through commissioning.
